    Hi Robert,

    I write in respect of a current debate going on in an online ‘bands-forum’ in NE England. The thread is regarding Soft Machine and early appearances in the town of Middlesbrough.

    During ’66, as an Art Student and musician in a local blues-band, I worked at a Club called Mr McCoys in Middlesbrough. The Club was owned by John B. McCoy an iconic figure on the local and national music scene who had given an unknown London band,called The Rolling Stones their 1st gig outside the capital just 3-years previously, for
