I assume the Wyatt die-hards here are aware of this, but just in case we have some discographers who haven’t caught this one: Wyatt was recorded playing drums live at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland with a small combo backing the late violinist Don Sugarcane Harris (remember him from some Zappa sessions of the late 60s-early 70s). The set was released on the German MPS label (…at least I THINK that was the label it was on). Or no maybe it was BASF. Would’ve been shortly before his accident.

The album is “Got the Blues”, I had this lp but sold
it some years ago – if you like Sugarcane’s work with
Zappa, this is for you. FULL OF FIRE!

I found a very scratchy MP3-version of “Jelly Babies”
which is a nice little ditty…

in addition to the above mentioned sugarcane harris album, there is/was a double album on the mps/basf label called new violin summit. this features, in addition to sugarcane, jean luc ponty, michal urbaniak and nipso brantner playing together and in various configurations, and is from the same concert ( berlin jazz fest nov 7 1971 ) as sugarcanes got the blues.
the back jacket photo is a great colour shot of the four violinists on stage with just a hint of wyatt behind jean luc.
