10 Robert Wyatt songs re-interpreted by Orchestre National de Jazz, with Robert’s specially recorded vocals:

Orchestre National de Jazz “Around Robert Wyatt”
    Daniel Yvinec direction artistique
    Vincent Artaud arrangements
    Antonin Tri-Hoang saxophone alto, clarinette
    Matthieu Metzger saxophone
    Joce Mienniel fl?te, ?lectronique
    R?mi Dumoulin clarinette, saxophone t?nor
    Sylvain Bardiau trompette, bugle
    Eve Risser fl?te, piano
    Vincent Lafont clavier, ?lectronique
    Pierre Perchaud guitare, banjo
    Sylvain Daniel basse ?lectrique
    Yoann Serra batterie

Brilliant musicianship with tender plaintive quality of Robert’s vocals – magnifique and a rare privilige for me – a Softs fan since 1968!

    1. Vandalusia
    2. Unkown Beauty
    3. Rangers in the Night
    4. O Caroline
    5. Kew Rhone
    6. Sea Song
    7. Just As You Are
    8. Shipbuilding
    9. The Song

1 hour set – no encores. Unique, magnifique and moved me to tears!

this came to the sydney festival last month. http://www.sydneyfestival.org.au/2013/Music/Orchestre-National-de-Jazz-City/

    it seemed to flummox a lot of the audience. < !## s:( ##>:(< !## s:( ##>

there were some great sections where the music melded with the visuals and the playing was energetic – especially ‘rangers in the night’ – a surprise indeed. but there were also some terrible sections – the insipid lounge version of ‘shipbuilding’ which stripped out all it’s emotion and a lifeless version of ‘memories’.

still and all great to see it and to see peter blegvad’s name up on screen!
